About

What's up? The name's Brooke De Lira, and I'm the creator of Rising Traceuse and author of the parkour novel Feral Phantom.

I started training parkour in 2011 when I went to Brazil to be with my soon-to-be husband and parkour inspiration Stefanno De Lira (who's also the founder of Brasil Trix.) Sure, I've had my months of inactivity, but parkour will always be my passion.

My other passion in life? Writing. Join them together, and ta-da! Rising Traceuse.

I created this site as a way to share my thoughts, advice and experiences with traceuses everywhere.

Although Rising Traceuse is geared towards women who practice parkour, I also do my best to provide content that's relevant to everyone. The posts I share are a culmination of my own experiences, some research, and the opinions and experiences of various parkour practitioners who have influenced and inspired me over the years.

I'll be continually expanding the horizons of the project, so follow along if you think Rising Traceuse can add something to your life as a parkour athlete.

What Is a Traceuse?

The word "Traceuse" is the feminine form of the French word "Traceur," a title adopted by practitioners of parkour. Female parkour athletes are a part of their respective communities, but their unique experiences and gender-specific challenges have lead them to create sub-communities of female practitioners.

This takes the form of women's jams, women-only meetups and online traceuse communities. The term "Traceuse" is not derogatory because it separates us from traceurs. Rather, it expresses our proud identity as women in the parkour community.

"Parkour doesn't take strength, it makes strength."  -Brooke
